The Edinburgh and Portugal Agreements

The Edinburgh Agreement and Portugal Agreement set out a number of actions that may be implemented by participating European regulators as appropriate to their regulatory context and approach.

Current projects

HPCB is working towards the gradual EU-wide implementation of a Certificate of Current Professional Status to help regulators register professionals from other European Economic Area (EEA) countries.

To ensure patient safety, regulators may need additional information - before or after registration - about the registration and disciplinary history of an individual healthcare professional. To meet this need, HPCB has also developed a Memorandum of Understanding on Case by Case and Proactive Information Exchange between a number of European healthcare regulators.
